Packaged in a folder, the parish edition consists of four-page leaflets covering 21 chapters. Each folder also includes 10 chapters for feasts and seasons, 18 cutout activities, and a family activity.
Blest Are We Faith & Word Edition Parish

In this spiral-thematic curriculum, there are six standard themes – one in each grade level – and the four pillars of the Catechism of the Catholic Church are incorporated into the unit structure at each grade level.  Scripture, the foundation of every chapter, leads to a presentation of Catholic doctrine – statements of belief, worship, morality and prayer. In addition, inspiring stories are included to bring Saints and other important Catholic figures to life.

I think I want to be a kindergartner again and start all over.  These children are amazing and we are so blessed to have them in our program.  As parents you have done a wonderful job, and our class is so eager to learn about God and it doesn't hurt that we have a lot of fun in doing so.  I was actually in the next class over while Fr. Mathias was visiting the third graders and I just had to see what the kindergarten class was doing today.  It is always something new and exciting.

100 Bible Stories, 100 Bible Songs [With CD]

Everyday in class the children read from the bible (100 Bible Stories 100 Bible Songs by Stephen Elkins). If you don't already have this, I recommend that you buy it.  We were trying to find a bible that grabs our children's attention.  This bible did just that; It has a short bible story on one side, and then a picture on the other with a prayer.  Afterwards you play a fun song that allows the children to remember the story that they just read.  Above you see the kids having fun with the song!

Today we explored God's creation and learned how God created the flowers, trees, mountains, and streams. We went on an indoor camping trip  and slept in a tent, then went on a nature hike to look for some of the different things that God made. We had a picnic outside and the children enjoyed eating sticks, worms, and bug juice (pretzels and gummy worms). We some crickets try to join our picnic so the children decided to collect them in a container and make a miniature habitat for them. Later we made headbands using leaves, birds, butterflies, and other things that God created. At the end of class we had a drawing to decide who would get to take home our cricket habitat and Colin won! We ended class with our prayer circle and the children said that the crickets wanted to thank God for creating them. It was a fun day!

 Dear Parents,

Welcome to kindergarten PSR! I'm so excited to begin working with your children and I'm looking forward to a fun year.  There are just a few things I'd like to let you know so we can get this year off to a great start.  If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding your child please do not hesitate to contact me via phone or email.

I will be organizing each class into small segments consisting of story time, lesson time, snack time, craft time, quiet prayer time, music time, and creative fun time.  Each we eek we will have an overall theme that we will work around but my main objective this year is to teach your child to pray and recognize God in his/her surroundings and also to introduce some of the stories of the bible.

I will be sending home a snack schedule and would like to ask that each parent take turns sending in a small snack or drink for our class ( you will not need to provide both).  We have a small class this year so you will only need to do this approximately once every 6 weeks.  If this presents a problem, please let me know.  i will send a snack bag home with your child the week prior to his/her day as a reminder.  Snack schedule and information will go home beginning in September.  If your child has any allergies, please let me know as soon as possible.  I will include on the schedule ideas and suggestions for those who would like them.

Your child will occasionally be bringing a folder home, please be sure to return these to class.  i will put any important information in the folder, but very rarely will any papers need to be returned. As we begin each new unit your child will be bringing home a family time poster to keep.  This will enable you to see what your child is going to be learning and it will also offer suggestions on how to reinforce the lessons.

A couple times throughout the year your child will be also be bringing home our class friend.  Prayer Bear.  Prayer Bear will be accompanied by a small journal.  The purpose of prayer bear is to encourage your child to pray for others and to open his/her eyes up to the needs of others.  When you child brings home prayer bear for the week, all I ask is that you help your child pray before meals and at bedtime.  We will be learning  a mealtime prayer along with the sign of the cross and the Glory Be, so this will be an excellent opportunity to practice.  In the journal I'd like you to help your child write down who/what they prayed for, and other fun activities that they did with bear over the week.  When you return bear and his journal, we will share what you and your child have written with the class.  We welcome creativity, so have fun with this!

Thank you for making PSR a part of your child's life, and for making the conscious decision to fill their little hearts with the love of Christ.  Please feel free to contact me at any time.
